Complaints & safety

If something on Stock Trader NZ isn't right — a misleading listing, an abusive message, a review that isn't true, or an animal you're worried about — tell us. A person reviews every report.

01

Report what you saw

Every listing card, seller profile, review and message has a report button. Choose a reason, say what happened, and attach photos or documents if they help.

02

A moderator picks it up

Reports go to the moderation queue, never to the other member. Animal welfare, fraud, threats and illegal activity are flagged urgent and seen first.

03

Both sides are heard

The member reported can read the case and add their own account. You can add to yours at any time until it's closed.

04

The decision is recorded

Each outcome — hidden listing, removed review, warning, suspension, or no action — is recorded with the reason, the date and the moderator's name.

When to go straight to the authorities

We can act on accounts, but we can't attend an emergency. These situations don't wait for a moderation queue.

  • Animal cruelty or neglect0800 00 83 33

Phone the Ministry for Primary Industries on 0800 00 83 33. If an animal is in immediate danger, call 111.

  • Threats, violence or a crime in progress111

Call 111. Don't wait for the app — report it to the police first, then tell us so we can act on the account.

  • Fraud, scams or stolen animals105

Report it to the police on 105, and tell your bank straight away if money has moved. Send us the case number if you have one.

  • Illegal activity or livestock movement breaches

Contact the police on 105 or MPI on 0800 00 83 33 depending on the issue. We'll share what we hold when we're lawfully asked to.

Disputes and reviews

A seller can question a review from their own profile, and upload evidence — a sale record, the original advert, messages with the buyer. The buyer is told and can answer. Reviews are only removed when they're fake, abusive, or not about a sale that happened. An honest negative review stays up, even when the seller disagrees with it.

You can block a member from their profile page or from a chat. Once blocked, neither of you can message the other.

Evidence you attach is stored privately. Only the two people in the case and the moderators can open it, through short-lived links. Private messages are never shown publicly.
